Film & Photo

Photography, satellite imagery, film, and art are powerful tools in better understanding North Korea’s Human Rights Crisis.  In efforts to accurately and effectively present the crisis, NKN has worked tirelessly to find difficult-to-find images.  However, we recognize that these images are often graphic, that such images –when misused– may be exploitative, and that images of those still living in North Korea must not be posted because they pose a danger to the individuals and families photographed.  We have approached the image selection process with due care and out of a deep respect for the individuals photographed.  We do not aim to sensationalize.  We hope to respectfully give voice to the North Korean people through real media.  When reading and viewing the content on this website, we trust that you will also respect the lives and human dignity of the individuals and communities presented within each image.
